Who is Jesus?
-
Jesus is not just a great teacher or a moral leader—He is fully God. He claimed to be the Son of God, not just another prophet, and this truth changes everything. If Jesus is truly God, then He must be trusted, worshiped, and obeyed.
-
At the same time, Jesus is fully human. Born of the Virgin Mary, He lived a real, physical life on earth over two thousand years ago. Though He experienced the struggles of human life, He never sinned, living in perfect obedience to God.
-
Jesus came to save His people, not by building a political kingdom, but by sacrificing Himself. He died on a Roman cross, taking the place of sinners, satisfying God’s wrath, and offering complete forgiveness to all who trust in Him.
-
Jesus’ death was not the end—He rose from the grave three days later, conquering sin, Satan, and death! Now, He reigns at God’s right hand and will one day return to remove all evil and suffering. He will establish His eternal kingdom, where believers will reign with Him forever.
At London Baptist Church, our mission is to point people to Jesus Christ and His Word in everything we do. Since He is at the heart of our teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, it is essential that we clearly understand His identity.
So, who is Jesus?
What is the Gospel?
At London Baptist Church, our mission is to point people to the redemption and salvation found in Jesus Christ. This life-changing message is known as the Gospel, but unfortunately, there is often confusion about what it truly means. Since salvation depends on the truth of the Gospel, it is essential that we understand it as God has revealed in His Word.
So, what is the Gospel?
-
Who is God? While many people reject belief in God totally, many who do believe in God misunderstand Him greatly. He is not a disinterested higher being, an evil dictator, or a helpless deity who is unable to control his creation. Rather, God is the loving, sovereign, just, powerful, and holy Creator of all things
-
Who are we? This question of personal identity perhaps results in more confusion than almost anything else in our modern age. Are we good, bad, neutral? If so, who decides? The Bible describes all human beings as being made in the image of God, but now separated from relationship with Him. Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, all humans have inherited a corrupt and sinful nature that results in rebelling against and rejecting the true God.
-
Who is Jesus? Was He a good moral teacher? A liar or a lunatic? The Bible reveals Jesus to be the Son of God who took on human flesh to live a perfect life, die as a sacrifice for the sin of man on the Cross, and then rise from the grave three days later. Jesus alone is qualified to provided salvation for sinners.
-
While Jesus accomplished salvation on behalf of sinners by dying on the Cross, that salvation must be applied to the life of the sinner by the Holy Spirit. Through God’s sovereign grace, He grants faith to sinners whereby they repent or turn from their sin and trust fully in Jesus Christ for their salvation! If you are reading this and have not trusted in Christ, why not confess your sin and believe in Him today?
